Tell us about yourself
Originally from County Down, Northern Ireland, I came to the South West to study law at Bristol University and stayed. I qualified as a solicitor some 27 years ago and counting and have always specialised in family law.
I am a former Partner and Head of Bristol family team for both international and national law firms. I specialise in divorce and finances including but not limited to trusts, property, capital, pensions, shareholdings, businesses and farms.
What is your specialist area of law?
I have successfully negotiated multi million pound settlements involving all types of property to include property portfolios, wine, horses, dogs, crops, tractors, cars, yachts and planes.
I undertake private children cases to include with whom a child should live and spend time with when parents separate.
I can also advise on cohabitation agreements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and most areas of family law.
No case is too big or too small and I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life.
What do you offer clients of John Hodge Solicitors?
I am firm but fair when dealing with cases. You can be certain I will represent you fully with no stone unturned.
Do you belong to any Panels or Associations which show you have reached a notable level of expertise and experience in your specialist area of law?
I am a member of Resolution and endorse the qualities required as a member. Listening carefully is important along with empathy and fairness in addition to expertise in the law.
I advise clients who are going through personal and financial turmoil and it is my job to help them through this as best I can.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
Thrashing out a great settlement for a client. One that enables a client to move on emotionally and financially. Sometimes it is not an easy journey but there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
I am an Irish rugby and Bristol Bears fan and I also enjoy horse racing from the sidelines. When not working, I can be found swimming outdoors, indulging in good food and wine and walking my dog with the family.
