Gareth Richards

Consultant Solicitor

Tell us about yourself

I am a solicitor, having qualified in 1979.  I was a partner in J. R. Brown & Co. from 1984 until our merger with John Hodge Solicitors in 2012.

What is your specialist area of law?

Whilst over my career I have practised in matrimonial, civil disputes, employment, wills & probate and even criminal work, I now specialise in property work, both residential and commercial.

What can you offer Clients of John Hodge Solicitors?

A wealth of experience coupled with an understanding of what Clients need and expect from their solicitor. Perhaps the most valuable skill of a solicitor is not so much understanding the nature of legal issues but being able to explain those issues in a way that the Client can understand them too.  I believe that it this ability that has seen so many of my clients returning to me over the years.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Being part of a much larger firm is a new experience, and the ability to focus entirely upon the Client, without the distraction of having to devote valuable time to the management of the practice, offers the opportunity to provide an even better service.

A message for Clients:

“Even during the busier periods of the year conveyancers must always have at the forefront of their minds that, no matter how large or small a transaction may appear to be, they all have equal importance so far as each client is concerned, and each matter therefore needs to be treated with the same degree of care, skill and expedition.

And on a non-legal note…

I take an active interest in local youth sport, having been heavily involved over the last twenty years with Clevedon Town and Clevedon United Junior Football Academies, and I currently hold the UEFA “B” Coaching licence.  I have also been associated with the Clevedon Swimming Club and spent many years serving the Clevedon community through Clevedon Lions Club.
