Tell us about yourself

After 10 years as an estate agent I decided to fulfil my ambition to pursue a career in law. I joined John Hodge Solicitors in July 2019 in a support role and have worked my way up to my current position as a Paralegal. I am also studying to complete a LLB degree in Law.

What is your specialist area of law?

I specialise in Residential Conveyancing. This means that I can assist with a range of property transactions, including: the purchase and sale of residential freehold and leasehold property, Help to Buy, shared ownership, new build properties, re-mortgages, transfers of equity and assents.

I also assist landlords in proceedings to repossess their tenanted properties. My services include primarily reviewing the documentation provided to the tenant/s upon commencement of the tenancy to ensure that there is a valid repossession claim, drafting and service of notice, and drafting and submitting the relevant claim form to Court.

What do you offer clients of John Hodge Solicitors?

I understand that buying and/or selling a property can be very stressful. In order to ease the stress, I like to be accessible to my clients and I encourage them to contact me at any stage during their transaction/s. No matter is too big or too small and I aim to respond in clear and easy to understand language.

What do you think makes a good lawyer?

In today’s society I believe that Lawyers need to be accessible and approachable with good communication skills. I believe a good lawyer needs to be able to listen to and understand their clients’ requirements and then aim to achieve the desired outcome to the best of their abilities. Lawyers will very often need to be proactive to move their caseloads along.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

I enjoy interacting with my clients and helping to ease the stresses of conveyancing transactions. I look forward to coming into work knowing that every working day is different due to the variety of the work and the challenges encountered in this area of law.

A Message for clients:

I pride myself on my communication skills and I am very approachable. I return calls and emails in a timely manner, and I am also more than happy to meet clients face to face if preferred.

Is there anything else you would like to say?

In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and family. I also enjoy watching F1 racing and have just taken up Aikido.
